Chocolate Supreme Brownies

  • 150g Plain Chocolate
  • 225g Butter
  • 500g Caster Sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 170g Plain Flour
  • 60g Cocoa Powder

Recommended Extras

  • 100g walnuts
  • 50ml Baileys Irish Cream

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 45-50 minutes
  • Oven Temperature: 180 degrees
  • Uses greased 11x7 inch tin
  • Makes 20-25 portions
  • Serving Suggestion: As dessert with strawberries and cream (uses 9 very large brownies).

Place the chocolate, sugar and butter in a saucepan. Since this is going to be heated, it helps to make sure the butter is on the bottom so it melts first. Heat the mixture on the hob until completely melted, stirring throughout. Break the eggs into a mixing bowl and add the saucepan contents to the bowl. Stir vigorously until blended. Now add the flour and cocoa powder. Mix carefully to ensure the powder doesn't fly off. Once you have a consistent mix, now is the time to add the optional extras if you wish. The walnuts should be broken up into small pieces (think 1cm ish). Grease the tin and add the mixture. Place in the already warm oven for 45-50 minutes. If you want slightly less gooey brownies add 5-10 minutes. The mixture will have risen up, and a wide crack will appear along its length when cooked.
