Banana, Walnut and Chocolate Loaf Cake


  • 275g Self-raising Flour
  • 175g Caster Sugar
  • 115g Butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Bananas
  • 150g Plain Chocolate
  • 100g Walnuts

Optional Extras

  • 2 tablespoons of Cocoa Powder


  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 55-60 minutes
  • Oven Temperature: 180 degrees
  • Uses greased loaf tin (approx 4x11 inch)


Add the flour, sugar and butter into a mixing bowl. Mix throughly. Mash the bananas (it helps if they're ripe) and add to the mixture together with the eggs. Stir vigorously until mixed. Chop the chocolate into pieces (roughly 1/4-1/2 square size) and break the walnuts into 1cm sized pieces. Add both to the mixture and mix well. Its now ready to go in the oven. Grease and line a loaf tin before adding the mixture. Cook for an hour at 180 degrees. You can optionally add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to increase the chocolatey goodness.
