Basic Cookie Recipe


  • 125g Light Muscovado Sugar
  • 125g Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons of Golden Syrup
  • 190g Self-raising Flour

Optional Ingredients

  • Plain Chocolate
  • Chopped Hazelnuts
  • Cocoa Powder


  • Preparation Time: 7-8 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes for each tray
  • Oven Temperature: 180 degrees
  • Uses baking trays lined with baking paper
  • Makes 12-15 large portions


This recipe is very straightforward. Place the sugar and butter in a bowl. Cream together. Then add the golden syrup and the flour. Stir until combined. Thats it, the basic part of the recipe is now done. Added a selection of ingredients to give crunch and flavour. Chocolate pieces on their own, chocolate and nut or even 1-2 tablespoonfuls of cocoa powder with chocolate pieces. The choice is yours. Aim to add approximately 150g of extra ingredients. When you've finished adding ingredients, split the mixture into about 15 small balls and place on a lined baking tray. If you're using chocolate chunks, its worth saving a couple for the topping. Place in the oven for approximately 12 minutes at 180 degrees.
